About This Site

There are no prizes for originality or eye candy here. It was created using Adobe Dreamweaver, simply for Dreamweaver’s ability to provide a facility for making template pages. Hopefully, the HTML mark-up is as close to semantically correct HTML as I can write at this moment in time and it all thankfully validates with the WC3 Mark-up Validation Service webpage.

I am a strict 'no tables' (except of course for tabular data) convert and use CSS for styling with a little help from the excellent 'Style Master' CSS editor. The simple layout was inspired by Matt Patterson's 'Reprocessed' website which in my opinion, is one of the most stylish and simple layouts I have ever seen.

I must also add my thanks to Matthew James Taylor's article on keeping footers pushed down to the bottom of a webpage without which, I'd probably still be tearing my hair out to try and find a solution!

'Elstree' gatepost

COLOUR SCHEME: So where did the name 'Elstree IT' come from and what's it got to do with the colour scheme of the site? For some reason unknown to me, it was the name painted on one of the sandstone gateposts in front of my house! As far as I know, it has nothing to do with the famous film studio of the same name. But it did give me the idea for a banner and a colour scheme for this version of the website. I was able to produce a whole gamut of colours by picking one base colour from the banner image and producing related colours from it by altering varying degrees of hue, saturation and brightness. They are not 'web safe' colours, but every colour you see here should naturally blend with each one of its related counterparts.

Finally, this site supersedes the old version as job that's needed to be done for a long, long time...
